Rehabilitation for the Roof of the Presidency Building at the University of Technology

27 November 2023

The Department of Construction and Projects at the University of Technology has successfully executed comprehensive rehabilitation works for the roof of the university's presidency building. These works encompassed several steps aimed at enhancing and renewing the roof. The process commenced with cleaning the surface from dust, dirt, and vegetation. The team also removed debris and obsolete equipment like internet and television receivers.

Metal scraps and materials were lifted, and the surface was thoroughly cleaned with water. The team also removed and reinstalled metal and plastic water tanks that obstructed the roof's treatment, ensuring secure reinstallation and proper functioning after treatment. Among other tasks, the team lifted all external cooling units hindering the surface treatment, reinstalled them after completion, and compensated for any lost gas during the process.

Air vents and pipes on the roof were sealed using metal plate pieces, and the iron structure was reinforced with rust-resistant coating and painted. It was securely installed. With careful surface polishing, a layer of concrete was applied using salt-resistant cement, sand, and gravel.

Finally, the old mast and gravel were removed, and a new Emirati mast was installed, with the gravel and treatment done using asphalt. It is worth noting that all works were carried out successfully with a focus on quality and safety. The out-of-service parts were delivered to the relevant party, and daily site cleaning was observed throughout the work period, ensuring no work residues for the next day.
