The Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Farhad Mohammed Othman, accompanied by Dr. Uday Hammoudi Abdullah, Director of the Construction and Projects Department, and a group of department engineers, conducted an inspection visit to oversee the progress of two critical projects at the university:

Repair of the Broken Water Pipe on the Main Road:

• The team monitored the repair work on the damaged pipe, which is part of the university’s main water network.
• The visit included observing excavation work, identifying the damaged pipe, and doing necessary repairs to ensure efficient and safe water flow restoration.
• The team ensured adherence to engineering specifications during the repair process.

Construction of the elevator structure in the Training and Workshop center:

• The team inspected the progress of the project to construct the elevator structure in the Training and Workshop center, which aims to improve the infrastructure and facilitate movement within the building.
• The follow-up included ensuring that the construction works are carried out according to the approved plans, including compliance with safety and quality standards.

Assistant Lecturer Shoula Raad Naiem, Head of the Design Unit in the Department of Construction and Projects, organized on Monday, 25/11/2024, a scientific field visit for students of the second stage in the Faculty of Architecture, Architectural and Urban Engineering, to the site of the presidential extension project at the University of Technology. The visit came in coordination with the teaching staff of the subject "Building Construction 1", represented by teacher Dr. Ghada Ghaleb Al-Nuaimi and assistant teacher Nadia Abdul Jabbar, aiming to enhance students' theoretical knowledge through its practical application.

Objectives of the visit:
• Enhance practical understanding: Provide students with the opportunity to link theoretical information acquired in the classroom with practical applications on construction sites.
• Learn about the implementation steps: Introduce students to the technical and engineering procedures used to implement construction projects.
• Gain real-world experience: Provide students with hands-on experience that helps them deal with workplaces and infrastructure directly.

This visit comes within the framework of the university's keenness to achieve integration between theoretical and applied education, which enhances the efficiency of students and qualifies them to integrate into the engineering labor market professionally.

The engineering team from the Construction and Projects Department conducted a visit to the Career Development, Employment, and Follow-up Division at the University of Technology to evaluate the building’s condition and provide an assessment to address the issue of termite infestation.

Details of the Visit:
• The engineering team inspected the building comprehensively, including foundations, walls, and floors, to determine the extent of termite damage to the structure.
• All requirements for resolving the issue were documented, focusing on identifying materials and equipment that would ensure the complete eradication of the termites.
• The team proposed a set of technical recommendations to address existing damage and prevent the recurrence of the problem in the future.

This step reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to maintain the integrity of its buildings and ensure a safe, sustainable working environment.

Under the supervision of the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, and the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, and the direct supervision of Dr. Uday Hammoudi Abdullah, Director of the Construction and Projects Department, the engineering cadres in the Department of Construction and Projects began to supervise the work of pouring the mat foundation of the presidential annex building, funded by the Governorate of Baghdad.

Details of the Pouring Process:
• Comprehensive quality checks were conducted on the materials used to ensure they met approved technical specifications, enhancing the foundation’s strength and longevity.
• The engineering team carefully reviewed the concrete mix ratios, a key element to ensure the foundation’s stability and the building’s long-term durability.
• The site was fully secured and equipped with the necessary tools to ensure the safety of the technical staff and workers, underscoring the university's commitment to providing a safe work environment.

This project is part of the university's plan to support and develop its infrastructure. The Construction and Projects Department will continue monitoring all work stages to ensure the highest quality standards.
