The Construction and Projects Department has constructed an emergency staircase in the Oil and Gas Engineering Department. The project was carried out following these steps:

  • The team excavated the ground in the adjacent side corridor of the building.
  • Damages resulting from the excavation process were addressed.
  • The old sewage pipes and manholes were lifted under the stair foundations.
  • A new drainage network was established, connecting to the existing network.
  • Plastic manhole molds connected to the drainage network were installed and secured.
  • Walls below windows were demolished to create openings for emergency doors on each building floor.
  • Damaged walls from the interior and exterior were repaired based on demolition-related damages.
  • A layer of sub-base was laid with proper leveling.
  • Foundations for the emergency stairs were poured with reinforced concrete using resistant cement, sand, and gravel, with reinforcement according to the plans.
  • An iron door was installed on the emergency staircase on each building floor.
  • The emergency staircase was constructed using iron sections outlined in the plans.
  • LED emergency exit lighting with directional indicators was installed on the ceiling and walls on each building floor. The lighting includes a charger and battery that operates for at least three hours.
  • Daily site cleaning was ensured during construction, with no leftover debris for the next day.

These activities were carried out following engineering standards and with high quality, ensuring the safety and security of students and staff in emergencies.

The construction and projects department at the university, under the direct supervision of the honourable university president and his assistant for administrative affairs, Dr. Farhad, successfully repaired the power station located behind the Applied Sciences building today. This significant project was funded by the Applied Sciences Department to restore the station to service and ensure a continuous power supply for the university.

This swift action follows a fire incident at the station last week, resulting in its complete shutdown. These efforts are part of the ongoing initiatives to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the university's construction and project-related infrastructure, enhancing the quality of services provided to students and staff.

The leader of this noble effort is Dr. Adi Hamoudi, who serves as the director of the construction and projects department. He has efficiently taken on the responsibility, applying his scientific and technical expertise to achieve the department's outlined goals.

This project reflects the success achieved through close collaboration between the university's senior management and its various departments, showcasing the university's commitment to providing a sustainable and secure educational and administrative environment.

We extend our thanks and appreciation to all the teams involved in this qualitative project, with wishes for further progress and success in developing and enhancing the university's construction and project-related infrastructure and services.
