The Construction and Projects Department is undertaking the rehabilitation of the garden located between the University Theatre and the Central Library. This project aims to improve and renew the facilities and environment surrounding the garden, and it has gone through three main phases.

 

Phase One: Rehabilitation of the Memorial
This phase of the completed work involved repairing and restoring the damaged parts of the memorial located in the garden. It was cleaned and repainted to enhance its appearance and highlight its historical and cultural significance.

 

Phase Two: Rehabilitation of the Fountain
This phase of the completed work involved repairing and reactivating the fountain, and cleaning its internal and external parts. This phase aims to restore beauty and vitality to the garden by ensuring the continuous operation of the fountain.

 

Phase Three: Rehabilitation of the Remaining Parts of the Garden and Green Spaces
This phase of the ongoing work aims to improve the overall environment of the garden and provide comfortable and attractive green spaces for students and visitors.

 

The garden rehabilitation project between the University Theatre and the Central Library reflects the Construction and Projects Department's commitment to improving the university environment and providing green area that meet the needs of the academic community. Through the organized implementation of the three phases, the project contributes to enhancing the natural and cultural beauty of the university and emphasizes the importance of sustainability and environmental awareness. A team of engineers from the Construction and Projects Department conducted an inspection visit to the central hall in the annex of the College of Petroleum and Gas Engineering, accompanied by Dr. Ramzy Syhood Hamied, the administrative assistant of the college. The visit aimed to agree on the requirements to elevate the hall to the level of a model hall, in addition to inspecting the annex corridors and the surroundings of the hall from the outside and taking the necessary notes to add them to the bill of quantities by the disclosure preparation committee.

 

Objectives of this visit:
• Assessing the current state of the central hall: Inspecting the infrastructure and current equipment, and identifying points that need improvement or renewal.
• Agreeing on requirements: Discussing technical and logistical needs to transform the hall into a model hall and identifying the materials and equipment required to achieve this goal.
• Inspecting the annex corridors and surroundings of the hall: Examining the corridors and the environment surrounding the hall to ensure the project's integration, and taking necessary notes to include them in the bill of quantities.

 

The team examined the hall's infrastructure, including floors, walls, and ceilings. They assessed the current equipment such as seating, lighting systems, and sound systems. The team discussed with Dr. Ramzy Syhood Hamied the points that need improvement to meet the standards of a model hall.
This visit reflects the Construction and Projects Department's commitment to developing and improving the infrastructure of the College of Petroleum and Gas Engineering. A meeting was held with Dr. Alaa Khadim, the college's Head, to inspect the college buildings and prepare a comprehensive rehabilitation plan.

 

Objectives of the Visit
1. Evaluating the Current Situation: Inspecting the existing buildings and facilities of the College of Computer Science and identifying areas that need maintenance and updates.
2. Developing a Rehabilitation Plan: Preparing a comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation of buildings and facilities, discussing the timeline, and the resources required for implementation.
3. Enhancing Aesthetics and Infrastructure: Improving the aesthetic aspects of the buildings and facilities, ensuring a comfortable and attractive educational environment for students and faculty.

 

Details of the Visit
1. Building Inspection: The team conducted a field visit to all the College of Computer Science buildings, assessing the condition of the buildings in terms of infrastructure and internal and external equipment.
2. Meeting with the Administrative Assistant: A meeting was held with Dr. Alaa Khadim, the college's Head, to discuss the college's specific needs and the rehabilitation efforts required. They exchanged views on priorities and potential challenges in implementing the rehabilitation plan.

3. Preparing the Rehabilitation Plan: A comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation of the college was developed, which includes:
    • Improving Infrastructure: Updating electrical and mechanical systems, and maintaining walls and ceilings.
    • Renovating Facilities and Enhancing Aesthetics: Improving classrooms, laboratories, and administrative offices.

 

These efforts are expected to significantly improve the educational environment at the College of Computer Science. The rehabilitation plan aims to provide a modern and safe educational environment, enhancing the comfort of students and faculty and contributing to improving the quality of education.
